SERVICE ADVISOR HANDOFF

When you find an issue, your job is to translate it into language the advisor can sell. "Pads are at 3mm" doesn\'t sell — "front brakes will need attention in 2-3 months based on current wear" does. This reference is the bridge between your bay and the customer-facing recommendation.

Tech finding → advisor language → customer understanding.
TECH FINDING → ADVISOR LANGUAGE → CUSTOMER TECH MEASURES Front pads: 2mm (spec 8mm new / 3mm replace) Squealer contact: YES Rotor min thickness: PASS Caliper movement: OK Documented + photo ADVISOR EXPLAINS "Your front brake pads are at 2mm — about 25% of new thickness." "The wear indicator is touching the rotor — that's the squeal you may hear." "Recommend replacement within the next 1,000 mi." CUSTOMER UNDERSTANDS There's measured wear (2mm vs 8mm new). It's safety-relevant (squealer + audible cue). There's a clear timeline (replace by 1,000 mi). → Sold · safer · trust built

WEAK vs STRONG WRITE-UP

Same finding, two different write-ups. The strong one sells. The weak one creates "is this really necessary?" objections.

WEAK
RO LINE
Brakes need replacement.
CUSTOMER RESPONSE
"How do you know? They feel fine to me. I just want an oil change."
RESULT: declined · no sale · trust lost
STRONG

CUSTOMER RESPONSE
"Oh. Yeah, when can you get it done?"
RESULT: sold · safer · trust built
THE STRONG WRITE-UP CONTAINS
1
Specific measurement
2
Spec comparison

EVIDENCE = SALES

Every recommendation should have evidence. Take a photo of the worn pad or the cracked belt before you reassemble. Save the broken part in a bin labeled with the RO number. When the customer asks "Is this really necessary?" the advisor can pull up your photo or show them the part — and 90% of declined recommendations become approved sales. That photo also protects you legally if the customer claims the part was fine.
